Hornady Park

Hornady Park is a popular place in Petersburg to have family fun. It is a very open space with trees, a fishing pond, a pavilion, splash pad and a playground.  It is a great place to enjoy good weather with your family.

Interlake State Recreation Area

Fees and Hours:
Trails are open from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week. Trails may be closed due to hazardous conditions.

Interlake State Recreation Area (ISRA), former coal mine land straddling Pike and Warrick counties, is a multi-use recreational facility focusing on off-road vehicle (ORV) recreation. Interlake is approximately 3,550 acres with nearly 100 miles of trails and 17 lakes (many of which can be accessed for fishing). The three areas of mining and reclamation create a variety of Off-road vehicle recreation – All vehicle types welcome including Full-size vehicles (Jeeps, trucks, etc.), Dirt bikes, ATV (four-wheeler, quad), UTV (side by side), and Home built.
Mountain biking trail experiences for ORV enthusiasts, horse riders, hikers and mountain bikers. From steep spoil banks to rolling grasslands, man-made lakes and strip pits, Interlake offers a diverse array of topography and scenic views.

Camping - Primitive camping is available for a fee. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Self-registration is required. Pit toilets and seasonal drinking water are available. There is a picnic table and grill located on each site. Eleven sites are available in the family camping area and 25 sites are located in the Horseman's Campground.
Fishing​- The Patoka River is accessible for fishing. A valid Indiana fishing license is required.
Hunting- Whitetail deer, turkey, squirrel, fox, and raccoon. A valid hunting license is required.
Picnicking- Picnic areas with picnic tables and grills are available for day use. A picnic shelter and playground are also available.
Hiking/Horse Trails- Hiking is available on the forest property's fire lanes and bridle trails. All horses brought, driven, or ridden onto the state forest must have a valid annual horse use tag. Hikers and horseback riders are advised to wear hunter orange or other bright clothing while on trails during hunting season.

Patoka River National Wildlife Refuge




The Patoka River National Wildlife Refuge and Management Area was established in 1994. National wildlife refuges offer all a chance to connect with our natural surroundings.  Patoka River National Wildlife Refuge and Management Area offer the ability to watch and photograph wildlife, hunt, fish, hike, canoe, learn through interpretive programs and seek simple solitude from everyday life.

Popular activities include hunting, range users, and dog running. Dog Runners are required to sign in and obtain the appropriate one-day access permit before entering the field at this property. The one-day permit card must be completed and returned to a self-service booth, drop box, or property office before you leave.
